该图的统计对象是城市居民的数量,单位是百分比;

五个城市,即五组数据;

每一组数据有三个分类统计,分别是在过去四周内买过现煮咖啡,在过去四周内买过速溶咖啡,在过去四周内去过咖啡厅买咖啡或者茶。

Step:整体情况

我们在课堂上强调过:多组静态数据需要组内比较和组间比较。

组内比较,即,每一组数据内部的高低大小情况。通过观察和对比每组数据,我们不难发现,这五组数据之间的共性是较为明显的:去咖啡厅和买速溶咖啡的人所占的百分比超过买现煮咖啡的人,其中,除Adelaide外,去咖啡厅的人数比重基本上都是最高的,均超过50%,买速溶咖啡的人数占比在五个城市都是超过45%。

组间比较,即,组别之间的数据大小情况。我们也不难看出三种人群分别在哪些城市占比较高,以及排序情况。同时,我们也可以发现数据的分布形态方面,Brisbane和Adelaide较为相似,Sydney和Melbourne较为相似。

The bar chart gives information about people’s habits of purchasing and drinking coffee and tea in different cities in Australia, according to the results of a survey.

To sum up, it can be immediately seen that people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits are similar in all five cities except in Adelaide.

Buying coffee or tea in a cafe is the most popular among the people in Sydney as well as Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart, especially in Sydney where almost 63% of drinkers have such a habit. The proportions of cafe visitors are marginally lower in the other three cities, ranging from 56% to 62%. However, the percentage of fresh coffee buyers is the smallest in all four cities, with that of the buyers in Brisbane the lowest, at merely 34%. Meanwhile, the popularity of drinking instant coffee is between that of visiting a cafe and that of buying fresh coffee.

The pattern, however, is different in Adelaide, where instant coffee is people’s preference, with half of them involved in the purchase. The percentage of cafe visitors is quite similar, at just below 50%, while fresh coffee is the least popular.

The bar chart gives facts about the consumer spending habits of drinking coffee and tea in five large Australian cities.

It is immediately apparent that the majority of residents preferred dropping by a cafe in all five cities except Adelaide. Melbourne recorded the highest percentage of people who visited a cafe for coffee or tea in the last four weeks at nearly 65%, followed by Hobart and Sydney.

In contrast, no more than half of the residents went to a cafe in Adelaide, the only city where buying instant coffee was actually slightly more common in the past month. Nevertheless, the proportion of people who reported having bought instant coffee did not exceed 55% in each city, the figure for Sydney standing at the benchmark of 45%.

Compared with the aforementioned two practices, consuming fresh coffee was far less popular in all five cities. The data in this category ranged from the 34% in Brisbane and Adelaide at the joint bottom to 43% in Sydney.

Overall, it can be clearly observed from the chart that the five Australian cities shared a similar pattern regarding the coffee drinking habits in the last month, with cafe-visiting and instant coffee favored over fresh coffee by the vast majority of the residents.
