Im studying in a city famous for its walls. All visitors to my city are amazed by the imposing sight of the city walls, silhouetted by the setting sun with gold and shining lines. With old, cracked bricks patched with lichen, the walls are weather-beaten guards, standing still for centuries in protecting the city.

Our ancestors liked to build walls. They built walls in Beijing, Xian, Nanjing and many other cities, and they built the Great Wall, which snakes through half of our country. They built walls to ward off enemies and evil spirits. This tradition has been maintained to this day as we still have many parks and schools walled off from the public. I grew up at the foot of the city walls, and Ive loved them since my childhood. For a long time, walls were one of the most natural things in the world.

My perception, however, changed after a hiking trip to the Eastern Suburbs, a scenic area of my city. My classmates and I were walking with some international students. As we walked out of the city, we found ourselves flanked by taller and taller trees, which formed a huge canopy above our heads. Suddenly an international student asked me, _Where is the entrance to the Eastern Suburbs?_

_Were already in the Eastern Suburbs,_ I replied.

He seemed taken aback, _I thought you Chinese have walls for everything._ His remark set off a heated debate. At one point, he likened our walled cities to _jails,_ while I insisted that the Eastern Suburbs were one of the many places in China that had no walls.

That debate had no winners, but I did learn a lot from this international student. For instance, he told me that universities like Oxford and Cambridge were not surrounded by walls; the campuses were just part of the cities. I have to admit that we do have many walls in China, and as we are developing our country, we must carefully examine them, whether they are physical or intangible. We will keep some walls but tear down those that impede Chinas development.

Let me give you an example.

A year ago, when I was working on a term paper, I needed a book on business law and found a copy in the law school library. However, the librarian turned down my request with a cold shoulder, saying, _You cant borrow this book, you are not a student here._ In the end, I had to spend 200 yuan buying a copy; meanwhile, the copy in law school was gathering dust on the shelf.

At the beginning of this semester, I heard that my university has started not only to unify its libraries but also link them up with libraries of other universities, so my experience will not be repeated. Barriers will be replaced by bridges. Through an inter-library loan system, we will have access to books from any library. With globalization, with China integrated into the world, I believe many of these intangible walls will be knocked down.

I know globalization is a controversial issue, and it is hard to say whether it is good or bad. But one thing is for sure: it draws our attention to Chinas tangible and intangible walls and forces us to examine their roles in the modern world.

And how about the ancient walls in my city and other cities? Should we tear them down? Just the opposite. My city, like Beijing and other cities, is actually making a great effort to preserve the walls. These walls attract not only historians and archeologists but also many schoolchildren trying to study our history and cultural heritage. Walls have turned into bridges to our past and to the rest of the world. If the ancient builders of these walls were still alive today, they would be proud to see such great change in the role of their walls. They are now bridges that link East and West, South and North, and all countries of the world. Our cultural heritage will survive globalization.

Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen,

By the time we are born onto this land, our own Chinese story begins. Only when we put our stories together, can we discover something new.

My mom was among the first generation in China to pick up a dual major, trade together with English. Her mom, my grandma, was a professor at the same college. And now, I am following my family’s footsteps, at the same university. I want to accomplish a dream that has been passed on for three generations.

When grandma entered college, she was in the age of prime, but education wasn’t. It was an age when China had a literacy of merely over 50 percent; it was an age when one out of eight got enrolled by a university or college; it was an age when even the top-class universities in China were not recognized by the world. It was with the aspiration of changing education for the better that my grandma became a teacher, in pursuit of teaching students at home and learning more about the abroad.

When my mother crossed the threshold of higher education into college, she was experiencing the tides of the Reform and Opening-up. It was an age when China was ready to embrace the world. With the demand for English talents staying high, she brought her talents to the field of international trade, with the hope of broadening her horizon and telling her international clients a Chinese story.

30 years later, it is already a new era when I step into the classroom where my mom and my grandma studied. The ambience in the renovated classroom is urging me to embark on a new journey; yet on the bookshelf, the books passed on since my grandma’s age is reminding me of a dream that has never changed: becoming a language scholar with a global vision, and be a good narrator of the Chinese story.

I took out my grandma’s notebook, which was already old and gray, trying to learn something new from the past. On the frontpage, wrote one of the earliest Chinese stories, taken from the Great Learning: “If you can do something new, then let it happen every day. With perseverance, every day becomes a new day.”

It was the moment when I realized that there has been something unchanged in the new era: that is always equipping ourselves with the new ideas and keep in pace with the time which never waits. Only by bearing this virtue in our minds that has inherited by the Chinese people for 5,000 years, can we gain both the confidence and the competence in telling a good Chinese story to all.

Tell the Chinese story to the Chinese people, for a new China with cultural confidence; tell the Chinese story to every global citizen, and together we build a community of prosperity, peace, and a shared future. The story of my mom, my grandma and myself will always remind me of the mission of a language learner.

I’m now crossing the threshold into a New Era, and now I fell I am ready to tell a new Chinese story to new audience. Thank you very much!

Seven centuries ago, Marco Polo, after staying in our country for almost twenty years, brought the secrets of spaghetti and ice-cream with him back to Italy. More than seven hundred years later, with the prevalence of globalization, our people, our food, our products and many other items, have traveled to many other places beyond Italy. No matter where these Chinese people, Chinese food, Chinese products and many other Chinese items are, they carry with them qualities that are unique to our very own Chinese culture - our traditional values.

In the whole process of globalization that the world is integrating politically, economically and culturally, into one, we do witness in our country a great influx of western culture and values - McDonalds, KFCs, soccer players and NBA players. And we are even having this prestigious national speaking competition in a language that does not belong to us. In the midst of western products pouring in China as a result of globalization, sometimes we do wonder, where does our own culture belong? When we see our younger generations going away from traditional values such as contextual and role-based ethics, ideal of community, hierarchy, paternalism and non-litigious nature of society, we may even think our traditional values are challenged and even threatened. But, are we really losing our values?

Ladies and gentlemen, we must remember, the traffic of globalization is two-way. Yes, films from Hollywood, soccer from the United Kingdom and restaurants from America, do have an impact on our values. But, if we see globalization in China a synonymous term with western economic cultural hegemony, we are underestimating the impact of not only globalization but also our values.

Have a look at languages. Yes, it is the desire and dream of every single Chinese to speak fluent English, including every single one of us here. But, have you ever wondered how many non-Chinese are learning Chinese? Let me tell you, by the end of 20xx, nearly 30 million people from 85 countries and regions were learning standard Chinese, Putonghua. And who knows about the number of people learning regional dialects such as Shanghainese and Cantonese. In these two years, I am sure none of us here will be surprised that the number is skyrocketing.

Have a look at Feng Shui, within seconds Google brings you 1,270,000 websites about Feng Shui, not in Chinese, not from all over the world, but in English, just within the United States. And I guess some of you still remember, when the previous American president, Bill Clinton, first became president. He actually had the furniture of his office rearranged according to feng shui ideas.

Have a look at traditional Chinese medicine. Four years ago, in 20xx, there were already more than 120 000 traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, researchers and related business trading companies in Europe, just Europe. Our holistic approach of taking care of a persons health has been proven popular in the world.

Our values, language, our Feng Shui, our traditional medicine and also Kung Fu that I have not really talked about, are all parts and messengers of our culture and values. What does their success in the west tell us? Their popularity tells us that, alongside cheap consumer products, we are exporting to the west, Chinese beliefs and, values.

Ladies and gentlemen, globalization, yes it has its impacts on our values. It is sending our values overseas and bringing in new ones. Lets not see the bringing in of new ones a threat to our own culture. As a matter of fact, the bringing in is a very good opportunity and time to rethink and reflect who we are and what we want to be. It is upon us whether globalization has a positive or negative impact on our traditional values. Ladies and gentlemen, I see this positively, I know even if our traditional values are changing or to change, the change is for better, not for worse.

Thank you very much.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen:

When I was in the primary school, I have a dream. I want to invent a device which could bring you from one place to another in no time at all. When I was in the secondary school, my dream was to study in my ideal university. And when eventually I got into the university, my dream was to graduate.

How pathetic! When we grow up, we dream less And become more realistic. Why? Why do we have to change our dreams, so, so in order to let it be _fulfilled_? Why do we have to surrender to the so-called _reality_? What IS the reality actually?

Ladies And gentlemen, the reality is not real. It is a barrier keeping us from all the possible fantasies. Flying, for example, had been a dream to mankind for thousands of years. A hundred years ago, _man could not fly_ was still regarded as the _reality_. Now if that was really the reality, what did the Wright brothers do? How did some of you get to Macau? Only when we believe that the reality is not real can we soar with our dreams.

People say that our future is a battle between the reality And our dreams. And if, unfortunately, Mr. Reality wins this war, then I see no future of mankind at all. _ will never be curable as this IS the reality; People living in the undeveloped countries will suffer from starvation forever as this IS the reality; 4)Disputes among different countries would never be settled as this misunderstandings And intolerance IS the reality.

Ladies And gentlemen, how many of you have a dream of being able to make a lot of money? Please raise your hands. Oh, quite a number of you! Actually, ladies And gentlemen, this is not a dream, but a task. Every one of us has to make a living, right? Anyway I hope your task will be accomplished. How many of you think that you have already fulfilled your dream And that you don't dream anymore? Dear 5)adjudicators, what do you think? . Lewis once said,_You are never too old to dream a new dream._ So for our future, please dream And be unrealistic.

Now that I am a university student, my goal is to graduate with excellences. But at the same time, I have a dream deeply rooted in our future. One day, people living in the areas now 6)sweltering with the horror of wars will be able to sit with their families And enjoy their every moment. One day, people from the rich countries are willing to share what they have with those from the poor countries And those from the poor countries will eventually be able to make their own happy living themselves. One day, different cultures in this age of globalization will coexist with tolerance And the unfriendly confrontations among them will be 7)eliminated. One day, the globe will share the dream with me And we will all contribute to making our dream come true. One day, our dream will defeat the reality! Thank you very much.

ladies and gentleman,good evening!

it's my great honor to present this speech name is peace and i am from class 1 of teaching chinese as a foreign language. my topic today is “living at present is my top concern”。

we've often heard the famous words;“yesterday is history, tomorrow is mistery, but today is a gift, that's why it's called 'present' ”.indeed, rich or poor, every one is endowed with this most precious gift .only by treasuring it and living to our fullest potential in the present, can we project our way forward to a bright and rewarding future.

living at present requires a positive attitude to confront life;it's having the wisdom to spend our life’s resources engaging in the most productive affairs; it's directing our time and energy towards the most efficient way to achieve a promising future! by living at present, we'll have more time and energy to focus on our goals and make a diffference to whatever our current task may be. furthermore,, it's learning from the past instead of unnecessarily carrying heavy burdens from yesterday, and planing our future to wisely prepare for it instead of being impatient or restless . if we drawn, or let ourselves be overcome by yesterday's memories or strong feelings , how can we be observant enough to focus on things going on around us? if we are into dreaming or unnecessary concern for tomorrow,,how can we prepare well for the exciting upcoming future?

that is why living at present is my top concern.

living at present demands the courage to throw away useless encumbrances of the past , to accept what is unchangeable, to change what is chnageable, and to learn from the past which should be a lesson. ,instead of an obstacle.

living at present also requires the wisdom to concentrate on the present ,preparing for the future and courageously displaying the patience to wait for tomorrow.

over a long period of time, taking care of my little brother and making money at university push me too hard ,and i was so exhausted and anxious that i couldn't even sleep though my sleeping time is extremely , i came to realize that i must lay off the mental burdens like worries from the past and concerns for the future and live at present. i need just to realise that i am on my way to my destination.; because i now know, that my top concern is “living at present ”!

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen:

Before western and Chinese civilization came into close contact, Chinese people had always longed for a life depicted in traditional Chinese paintings. Those paintings present a harmonious coexistence of people and other life forms. Regarded as the essence of ancient Chinese philosophies, harmony has been deeply-rooted in the minds of the Chinese people. On the one hand, it has contributed to the unique continuity of Chinese civilization. On the other, Chinese people became too much contented with their achievements to desire any further changes. As globalization deepens, it is bound to affect our ideal of harmony.

First, globalization urges China to speed up its modernization, which threatens our regard for the harmony between Man and Nature. For instance, many dams and hydropower stations are being built for economic benefits at the expense of the well-preserved natural habitats. However, ecological malpractice of such kind goes against the notion of harmonious coexistence in ancient Chinese philosophies. More than 2,000 years ago, long before the concept of environmental protection came into being, DuJiang Weir, a great irrigation project was built in southwestern Chinas Sichuan province. It succeeded both in controlling floods and in facilitating the agriculture without posing a threat to the environment.

Moreover, globalization has brought with it intense competition. Traditionally, moderation is a golden principle, presiding over inter-personal relations in China. Today, however, motivated to come to the top, some people become so self-centered that they choose to sacrifice love, friendship and even family ties.

Last but not least, diverse cultures have met in China as a consequence of globalization. Therefore, a clash of cultures becomes inevitable. Unfortunately, the past decades have witnessed a huge loss of cultural heritage in China. In cities like Beijing and Xian, hundreds of century-old Chinese-style houses are being demolished to make room for skyscrapers, shopping malls and eight-lane expressways.

From these examples, we see the disharmony brought about by globalization. Yet it is not globalization that is to blame. As long as we approach globalization with harmony in mind, its benefit will outweigh its cost. Take my hometown, Hangzhou, for example, thanks to the strenuous efforts made by the municipal government in achieving eco-development, various water birds have returned to the West Lake, calling it home again after years of migration elsewhere. From the lake bank, we see skateboarders and trick cyclists showing off together with people flying kites and kicking shuttlecocks on the plaza nearby. Although they compose a picture quite distinct from traditional Chinese paintings, this picture conveys a modern sense of harmony in this era of globalization.

Ladies and gentlemen, to conclude, I would like to quote from British philosopher Bertrand Russell. In contrasting Chinese and Western civilizations, he observed: _The distinctive merit of western civilization is the scientific method; the distinctive merit of the Chinese is a just conception of the ends of life. It is these two that one must hope to see gradually uniting._ As we see the tremendous progress China has been making drawing on experience abroad, we may also expect the Chinese traditional value of harmony to enrich the world. I look forward to the time when Russells prophecy comes true.

Thank you very much.

there is an old saying “east and west, home is best.” so, we can see how important home is to everybody. i’ve got a sweet home because it is cozy. my family lives in a flat. the sitting room is the biggest and my room is the smallest, but it is a world of my own. the wall is white, the curtain is pretty, the bed is comfortable and the bookshelf is filled with different kinds of books. in the right hand corner is the zheng, a traditional chinese musical instrument, and on the table is the computer. when i feel tired, i can play computer games; and when i feel depressed, playing the zheng can cheer me up. this is my sweet home, where i can find peace and comfort.

i’ve got a sweet home because it is full of love. my dad loves me. he is kind and patient. it is my dad who watches outlook english magazine with me; it is also my dad who is ready to answer my questions. my mom loves me, too. she is considerate and hardworking. every day when i go home from school, the rooms are always clean and tidy. every time when i play out and forget dinnertime, it is also my mom who calls me back with her tender voice, “come home, my little darling, dinner is ready”.

this is my home, my sweet home.

My favorite Animal-Black Faced Spoonbill

Good afternoon, dear judges. Today my speech is _I love black-faced spoonbill.

On a beautiful winter day, I happened to meet the lovely spirit------

Black Faced Spoonbill, a type of migratory bird, which spends winter at Hong-Shu-Lin in my city every year. Covered with snow-white feathers, it has black legs and a black beak. Besides the blacks and whites, an amazing splash of yellow is under its neck. So elegant that I couldn’t help loving it at first sight.

With a big and spoon-shaped beak, it can clasp fishes easily, which makes it a powerful hunter in birds.

However, with human expansion and pollution, only around 20xx ones are living all over the world.

Like the eleven swan princes in Andersen’s Fairy Tale, the Black Faced Spoonbills have always been struggling to find a tiny rock which can offer them a momentary tranquility. Fortunately, they have found one in my beloved home. I would always hold them dearly to my heart and wish they would return with flocks of chicks in the following years, and singing……

Oh, I have a home, such a beautiful home, where I play and rest happily.

Oh, give them a home, such a wonderful home, where the spoonbills play all day.

Good morning,I’m very glad to make a speech here. Today my topic is “I love you, China.”

Since the day I was born, I began to have a proud name—Chinese. Since the day I began to talk, the most beautiful sentence I’ve ever learnt has been “I love you, China!”

I love you, China, and I’m so proud of being a Chinese. I’m proud that I’ve got the beautiful yellow skin, black eyes and black hair. I’m also proud that I speak the most beautiful language in the world—Chinese.

I love you, China, for I can feel the deep love you give me every day, every minute. Last year, I got an opportunity to visit the United States of America. During my staying there, my father’s boss once invited my family to dinner. While at table, he looked at me and asked: “Little boy, how long have you been in America?” “About a month,” I answered, “How lucky you are!” he said, “If you were living in China, how could you learn such perfect English?” I smiled and told him proudly that all the students in China are able to learn English at school. I saw his surprised eyes and said to myself, “I’m proud of you, China. For you are offering us the best education.”

When I came back from the USA, my friends asked me: “How do you feel about your staying there?” “Wonderful” I said. “Then why do you come back?” Hearing this, I told them there were lots of beautiful countries in the world, but none of them can compare with our own country—China. How true the saying is: “There’s no place like home!”

I love you, China. As a young student, all we should do is to study hard and devote ourselves whole-heartedly in the future, to the great cause of building you into an even stronger and greater country in the world. I love you, my dear motherland! I love you, China!

Thank you for your listening !

Hello ,everyone !

Today I’d like to tell you the feeling of our students in study.

Once after an exam, I heard a voice shouted:“With the crazy hard examination, I don’t want to live any longer. Oh ,my God!”

This attracted my attention and I said to him:“Hi, buddy .Don’t be like that. It’s always the way in this life. So just let it lie. Okay ? ”

“I am sorry ,but I am not you, Zhou. I know you feel happy and I know you have a positive attitude. But it doesn’t work this way.”

“How about this way. I hate life like that also. I hate that it takes four hours and a half everyday to do my homework. I hate that I get a little crinkle above my nose when I looking at some hard questions like I’m nuts. And I hate that after I spend the day in hard working I still don’t know how to answer these questions. And it’s not because I’m happy and it’s not because I have a positive attitude. I told this to you because you want to become one of the best students in our school ,you want your wonderful success to come as soon as possible!”

I don’t know whether he accepted what I said or not. But I do hope that one day the school education will become funny and easy. Then we students will have a better world , a better tomorrow in learning.

Thank you.

“Hoo-hoo! The wind howled like a lion. In the morning, I got up and opened the window. ”Oh! It's cold! I was gave a shudder in the cold wind blow. I hurriedly close the Windows, so as to avoid catching a cold. I carefully out of the window a look, ah! A few tree was blown down on the highway. I just want to rise, television said the typhoon“ Rosa ”is coming.

This morning, I could not hear the sound of the car, but the wind and rain.

The rain seemed to pour down from the sky, and little umbrellas could not help the passers-by to stop the rain. The rain had hit the Windows of my house again and again, and the Windows were “pit-a-pat”.

I looked at the road again, and the pedestrians were holding their umbrellas and rolling their trousers to their knees so that they wouldn't get wet. There are cars on the highway, but those are anti-taiwan police cars and engineering cars. Most private cars don't move. Some cars were submerged in water and pulled away by the trailer.

Further highways are full of rain. Several soldiers were dispatched from the army, carrying a lifeboat, to save the people trapped in the water. They pushed the boat to the trapped pedestrian, helped the pedestrian to sit on it, and then moved one step at a time to the top of the water.

Look into the river again. The color of the water turns yellow. There were a few ducks on the surface of the water, and they were washed away by the rushing waters, and they could not swim. The water also rose much higher and flooded several lowlands. On the river, small whirlpools occasionally appear, and the water gourds on the river are rolled to the bottom of the river.

How dangerous the typhoon is to us!

As long as we take good care of the environment, the bad weather will not happen without litter.

The person I admire the most has to be Yang Li.

Since he was young, he was very quiet, afraid to speak he was even too scared to answer the phone. He failed the same english exam many times. He was never specially trained in english at all. However, after intense practice he finally become a famous english radio presenter, bi-lingual TV host as well as a brilliant translator and the ' english seeding machine'.

his exceptional speech has spreaded all over the world. He received many awards from the film _ Crazy English_ made by西安电影制片厂摄制. Chinese people all over the world regard him as the somebody the nation should be proud of.

In 20xx, he was voted first place in the Top 10 Young Influential People of the Country.

He once said that ‘I am not afraid of humiliating but I enjoy it.'

I was not a confident person, i worry about everything i do and because of this i lost many opportunities to elevate my personal value.

Good evening everyone! Hello ladies and gentlemen! It's my great honor to stand here. As you know, there is a kind of beauty, it can make the person surprise, it make the person enjoy in retrospect. It is gorgeous and spectacular. There is a kind of beauty, it brings the intense emotion to life. It brings the sweet to life. This kind of beauty is the beauty of harmonious. Well, this is my today's topic:A harmonious campus.

Harmonious, is one of the most popular words in the society at the present time. Now our governments are advocating building harmonious society. But what is harmonious? I looked it up in the dictionary. It says “in agreement, free from ill feeling.”

In some schools, there are a lot of problems. For instance, teachers do not have patience with students, some ever shout at them. Students fall in sleep during the class. Play truant is widespread. Cutter languages are often heard.

Campus, which is of course one part of the project, plays an essential role in the society. If we want to build a harmonious society, first we should build a harmonious campus, and get rid of those problems.

To a harmonious school, the surrounding is very important. On our campus, coconut trees growed line on the road. The green grais the always fine spring day. The various flowers and trees are the beautiful scenery, the green outside the classroom show its grave to the students. When the students are walking around the campus, their bodies and minds are pleasant.

If we think of the harmonious campus as a tree, then the harmonious environment is the leaves of the tree. The good human relation of campus is the root.

Only the campus with good human relationships can be called a harmonious campus.

A harmonious campus has a harmonious relationship between teachers and students. Teacher, which is the person who teaches you knowledge, should be respect by us. We should cherish teachers' pays, respect their works. Thus we can create a harmonious study atmosphere.

A harmonious campus also needs a good relationship among students. We should help those who have problems, and get along with them. Thus to create a harmonious social relationship.

Bring hope to the helplessness, bring power to the young, bring light to the blind, and bring confidence to the weak. Our campus is a harmonious campus: it is a family of us all.

谨此文,献给夏令营的全体营员;

谨此文,献给为夏令营辛勤工作的辅导员;

However difficult your life is,meet it and love it.

Do not avoid it and call it names1. It is not as bad as you think. It lookspoorest when you are richest. The fault—finder will find faults in paradise.

Love your life. Poor sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse asbrightly as from the rich man’s house. The snow melts before itsdoor as early in the spring. I can only see a quiet mind living as contentedlythere, and have as cheerful thoughts,as in a palace.

The town’s poor seem to me to live the most independent lives of they are simply great enough to receive without doubt. Mostthink that they are above being supported by the town, but it often happens thatthey are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means, which should bemore disreputable4. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whetherclothes or friends. Turn to the old,and return to them.

Things do not change;we change. Sell your clothes and keep yourthoughts.

Good afternoon, honorable judges, dear teachers & friends:

Today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. What is success? It is what everyone is longing success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.

However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. Is fortune success? Is fame success? Is high social status success? No, I don’t think so. I believe success is the realization of people’s hopes and , in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful. And the most obvious characteristics of hem are money, high position and luxurious life. So most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. But the problem is wether it is real success. We all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end? What will satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people’ hopes and ideals.

Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another. But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. These are the best treasures. So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope.

What is success? Everyone has his own interpretation as I do. But I am sure every success leads to an ever-brighter future. So ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life!

爸爸这时把《Forrest Gump》的台词一条条发到我的手机上,“Life is just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get”、“Stupid is as stupid does”、“Miracles happen every day”.……

Dreams

--------Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams,

For if dreams die,

Life is a broken-winged bird,

That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams,

For when dreams go,

Life is a barren field,

Frozen with snow.

Hello here! I m Zhang , that s my honor to see all of you sitting here listening to my words, I beg your patience for my blahblahblah, and today my topic of speech is This Is Me.

Nowadays, everything is changing unpredictable. And all of us seem to pay more attention to the others, to the society or to the things on the other side of the earth. But have we ever thought about those questions: What s the most terrified thing for me? Could I ever fight with my bad manners and did I ever communicate with myself? Maybe you ll think that I ve lost my mind asking those questions, but guys wemodern people do need this ability self-criticism or self-insight. Chinese people have pursued our set way of the aim of life as to be a man and hold a family then contribute to society from ancient times. According to this, we can know obviously that to be a man has been regarded as the thing that a responsible adult should deal with, or we should say, aspire to be firstly. As far as I could concern, to be a man not only means to show high moral standards, but to get well known about ourselves, yet we could hardly reach this standards by now because of the age or the lack of experience of living; however, things we can do would be more than just wandering around. One who knows his own strength and that of the enemy is invincible in battle; all I want to say is that This Is Me is not just making a self-introducing or emphasizing, the speech I made is not talking about my personality or inner-quality, it is a slogan or an aphorism, which always warning us that: get to know ourselves and to be a man.

imagine a car without a steering wheel. tough to imagine, right? well, actually that’s the image you see if a person has no faith. faith helps to guide us in our lives, encourage us to persist, and give directions when we are lost.

in this peaceful era, our life paths seem to be already well-planned and determined. what we have to do is to follow. yes, we may face different sorts of challenges, but at least they are less harsh when compared to those in the past. we do not need to worry about starving to death, or how to earn enough money to buy food for our siblings and sustain our lives.

it is like driving from a muddy road into a highway. in the muddy road, path, you would say, as it is formed only by crossing on it many times, flattening the ground to form a smoother area so we can pass. the road is so bumpy and rough, with holes here and there and rocks lying all over. when we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. however, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. the road is smooth, straight, and visible. since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. one may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel?

Dear teachers, students:

I am very happy to meet with you here today to tell you my speech is entitled _English, so I am happy._

English, spread to all over the world, people talk about memorization. Since my time in first grade began to learn English, I was not interested in it, but the third and fourth grade, when a sudden interest in reading in English every day, and even self-learning, to raise a lot of English results .

Now, my greatest interest is the time to see the English. Each weekend, I always find time to read English books or see on the English comic books, information books, and even outside the time when shopping, but also with some English information on the book, simply put it down.

Each school, I sometimes went to the library of books on English, a view that is 30 minutes, the harvest has been so many.

Once again, the summer vacation, I went to the United Kingdom. Where I see a lot of the city, this afternoon I have friends with the British dialogue in English, but also know a lot of knowledge of English, they also compliment away一extra-curricular knowledge of the English book.

I have often in the Monday and Tuesday, when listening to English tapes, one is 3 hours. Also frequently used sentence patterns learned review again, I learned to feel very proud.

The book in English class after school, but also extra-curricular English book out to read, every time I think: if these extra-curricular English read the end, learned that their English, reading and writing is not improved. Therefore, I, day and night, every day, reading, really English results improved reading and writing, I am more proud of.

How many of you think that you have already fulfilled your dream and that you dont dream anymore? Dear 5)adjudicators, what do you think? . Lewis once said, _You are never too old to dream a new dream._ So for our future, please dream and be unrealistic.

I have a friend who just started his career as a teacher in a primary school. Weeks ago, he asked me to raise a topic for his mid-term composition test. I was curious why he chose me to give a topic, because he is a teacher himself. He said that he wanted something the students can really show their different ideas. Without thinking, I told him to let his students write about what they would do if they were given one million US dollars. My friend left with satisfaction, and I fell into my old memories.

It reminded me of my old days in primary school. We were learning to do narration in the fifth grades Chinese class. Our teacher required us to write a composition with the topic _My Most Unforgettable Day_ with our real experience.

When papers came back, half of the students wrote about the first day they came to school. The rest of the compositions were all about picking money on the streets and giving it to policemen, or helping a blind man cross the street. Of course I was among them. But I remember very clearly, that one student, only one student gave something different. He wrote about the day that he first kissed a girl. I read his composition. After all these years, I cant recite every word, but I dare to say, that even Shakespeare, may not be able to write as equally good when he was 11 years old. The composition was written out of real experience and genuine emotions. Contrary to those fake stories, it sounds real and natural. But the kid was scored zero. Our teacher thought the content was unhealthy, Im sure you know the meaning of this Chinglish word _unhealthy_.

That was 15 years ago. When you read those compositions, and you feel that half of our population is blind, so all those kids could have a chance to help a blind man cross the street, and every one of us has a hole in our pocket, so all those kids could have a chance to pick up the lost money and give it to policemen.

A few days ago, my friend sent me an e-mail of all the copies of his students compositions. I have to say, I was sadly disillusioned.

Among those papers 40% said that they wanted to donate the money to people in poverty, so their children can go to school. The rest compositions are much more alike. Some wanted to support the panda protection project, some wanted to buy books to enlarge their knowledge. One student even said that he would like to spend his one million dollars on the effort to cure _. I was more astonished to find that a ten- year-old child knew what _ really is.

We all have been kids, and we knew what we had once wanted. But, there was no composition about spending the money on video games, nice clothes, chocolates, ice-creams and expensive toys. Like 15 years ago, students wont tell the truth of their hearts.

It has always been our dream to open our childrens hearts. We encourage them to describe their dreams, and acted as if we are ready to accept their thoughts. But the fact is that, children are scared by the zero marked on their papers. They are trained to say what we want to hear.

People compare children to flowers of tomorrow. And parents dream about the scenery that roses, tulips, daffodils flourish in the future. But down the road we are going on, in the future, or the future of future, only one kind of flower can be found. And thats the flower we like most.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen:

Today we are enjoying such fine weather. The sun shines brightly and warmly. In fact we can hardly find a better day during the cold winter time. I’m feeling happy, very happy that just before christmas and the new year I finally got this opportunity to prove and also to know who I am and what I can do. Please know highly honored ladies and gentlemen your recognition and appreciation of me will be my greatest honor and pleasure. I know on this special occasion you have revceived floods of greetings and wishes for the coming Christmas and new year. Anyhow I wanna wish all the ladies and gentlemen in this hall a merry christmas and a happy new year.

My topic today is about time and money. This is a very old topic and maybe has long been out of time but this is also a topic nobody can really avoid.

Time is more valuable than money

There goes a very famous saying, and especially among those business people, that is, time is money. But in my opinion, time is more valuable than money. You see, the money we have lost can be gained again, but the time we have wasted can not be regained. Moreover, sometimes a person can exist at least for a while without money, but nothing can be done without time, just as no one can live without air.

However time is something that is invisible and men tend to waste their time unconsciously. Without anything to do, they will feel life is dull and meaningless.

Few men can live to 100 years. It seems fairly long but in fact it’s rather short. Just imagine how many things can a man accomplish in such a short period. Hence we should use our valuable time properly to do our work well. We will race with time. We will study and work hard and never waste even a single of minute.
