Dear Sir/ Madam,

Since the Reading Festival is around the corner, I’m writing torecommend a picture which can be used in the brochure to remind the students ofthe pleasure of reading.

In the picture, three students are sitting at the table, discussing heatedly what they have just read. It seems that they have had a lot of fun through the discussion. Though it is admitted that reading is mostly a personal activity which needs quietness and concentration, as far as I’m concerned, it can also be a sharing experience when the same book is being appreciated. Just imagine that you have read a terrific detective story with fascinating and intricate plots. You are so amazed by the genius of the writer and you can’thelp sharing it with your classmates or best friends, who turn out to have been deeply impressed as well. The moment you mention the book, the passion and enthusiasm about the story will explode which can never be gained on your ideal atmosphere of reading is just like that, through which you can not only appreciate the content by yourself, but also have the pleasure of sharing the plots or opinions with your peers, which will ultimately enhance your understanding of the sum up, the reason of my recommendation is quite simple and apparent that reading, instead of being dull and isolating, can be full of participation and common interest.

我,一棵小草,静静的长在阳光遗忘的角落,吸甘露,拂微风,看满世界的繁扰,倾听着别人的喧嚣。

每棵树都希望能占据阳光下最好的位置,接受最充足的光照,那阴暗的角落留给谁呢?不是每棵树都有好运气,不是每棵植物都是参天大树,也有像我一样的小草,静静地长在阳光遗忘的角落。

我是一棵小草,这不是我决定的,我妈妈是一棵小草,我爸爸是一棵小草,我要成为一棵参天大树,难度何其之高。更不幸的是,我还被风飘落到一个被阳光遗忘的角落,我无奈,但我不憎恨。小草也有小草的草生,小草也有小草的微笑。

我妈妈也是森林和绿地的一员,也吸入CO?,也生产O?,也和大树一样。我生而为一棵小草,我吸入CO?,吐出O?,我创造,我开心。虽然我没有走入阳光中,但不妨碍我和阳光中的大树一样的创造,一样的微笑。

不是每棵植物都能站在满是阳光的地方,虽然他们站在阳光下,长得快,长得高,但也有他的烦恼。“木秀于林,风必摧之;柳活百年,为其不材。”我每年都看到被砍倒的大树,他们都是我的朋友,我叹息,也莫能助。

当然了,我也有梦想,如果草生也有轮回,草生也有来世,我希望自己也是一棵大树,站在阳光下,挺拔又骄傲,即使成材被砍,也不枉来生,做成桌子、椅子,也能换个场合继续活着,满满的骄傲。

但我生而为一棵小草,长在被阳光遗忘的角落,每天最大的期望,就是阳光在朝起暮落的时候,能和我打个招呼,哪怕是一秒钟也好,我会舒展我的叶片,整个儿和他拥抱。为了这个梦想,我总是每天努力的生长,因为每长高一分,我的脸就会多一分机会对阳光微笑。

为了这个梦想,我把根扎的更深,贪婪的吸取更多的养料。我相信,在被阳光遗落的角落,也有一棵小草的梦想,也有一棵小草的呼叫。阳光照不到,但不等于我永远够不着。梦想是一定要有的,万一它实现了呢?虽然我的这点小小的梦想,对于长在阳光下的大树来说,永远想象不到。

News came that our school will organize a shot walking tour to explore Shanghai on 1st May in the afternoon. The route starts from People’s Square, via East NanjingRoad, and ends at the Bund, and then return the same way. This is a greatactivity, while there may be some room for improvement. First,1st May is not the best time. It is a vacation when many people will come to visit the city. Crowded and noisy, push and squeeze, all of that will prevent the tour from being a great memory. Second, the route does not cover some most glamorous parts of the as it is that the Bund best symbolizes the city’s inclusiveness of eastern and western culture. Lujiazui,one of the economic and financial centers in the world, should definitely onthe route. To conclude, it would be much better, if the plan could avoid the vacation and upgrade the route.

A recent survey has been conducted on whether parents feel honored about their children in Zhonghua School. What is symbolically depicted in the bar chart above is that 80% parents regard their children as pride, while, to our surprise, only 60 in every hundred students hold the same viewpoint. Such a striking contrast is there between the two perspectives that it reveals a common phenomenon. Parents and children hold different attitudes towards the issue. From where I am standing, two reasons are responsible for the finding. First and foremost, with the increasingly fierce competition, teenagers are prone to suffering from the sense of inferiority. What additionally frustrates the children is peer pressure from parents. Chances are that the adults are inclined to gossip and compare with other friends about the academic performance of their children. Apart from it, a lack of communication between parents and children is also a key factor contributing to the difference. Proud as parents feel of their children, they remain too shy to praise or give compliments. Meanwhile, children seem to abide by every command from their parents and accept the negative comments without saying a word, which triggers their self-accusation of failing to live up to the adults’ high expectations. From what has been mentioned above, it is fierce competition and lack of communication that give rise to the phenomenon. Only by mutual trust and understanding can children feel the importance and pride attached to them.
